Automatic Compilation of Concurrent Hybrid Factories from Product Assembly Specifications

چکیده

We address the problem of designing a distributed, hybrid factory given a description of an assembly process and a palette of controllers for basic assembly operations. In particular, we present a method that, starting with a product assembly graph (PAG), allows us to \com-pile" a factory description, consisting of a geometry and a hybrid, dy-namical system representing the motions of robots on that geometry. This method is based on a formalism, which we have described in previous work, that allows us to manage the details of low level, continuous control of robot actuation and high level, logical control of various couplings of robot behaviors. The factory description is intended to be an aid in the design of an actual factory, if not directly implementable itself.

A multi-objective genetic algorithm (MOGA) for hybrid flow shop scheduling problem with assembly operation

Scheduling for a two-stage production system is one of the most common problems in production management. In this production system, a number of products are produced and each product is assembled from a set of parts. The parts are produced in the first stage that is a fabrication stage and then they are assembled in the second stage that usually is an assembly stage. In this article, the first...

Customer-driven Collaborative Product Assembler for Internet-based Commerce

In this study, a real-time collaborative 3D assembling system (Co-assembler) has been described that allows casual customers to interactively and virtually configure the 3D products over the Internet. It provides a framework for a web-based 3D assembly system that uses a customizable product model to significantly simplify the configuration and the assembly process, and a customer-driven recomm...

Mathematical model for dynamic cell formation in fast fashion apparel manufacturing stage

This paper presents a mathematical programming model for dynamic cell formation to minimize changeover-related costs (i.e., machine relocation costs and machine setup cost) and inter-cell material handling cost to cope with the volatile production environments in apparel manufacturing industry. The model is formulated through findings of a comprehensive literature review. Developed model is val...

Automatic Hardware Synthesis for a Hybrid Reconfigurable CPU Featuring Philips CPLDs

A high-level architecture of a hybrid reconfigurable CPU, based on a Philips-supported core processor, is introduced. It features the Philips XPLA2 CPLD as a reconfigurable functional unit. A compilation chain is presented, in which automatic implementation of time-critical program segments in custom hardware is performed. The entire process is transparent from the programmer's point of view. T...

Hybrid algorithms for Job shop Scheduling Problem with Lot streaming and A Parallel Assembly Stage

In this paper, a Job shop scheduling problem with a parallel assembly stage and Lot Streaming (LS) is considered for the first time in both machining and assembly stages. Lot Streaming technique is a process of splitting jobs into smaller sub-jobs such that successive operations can be overlapped. Hence, to solve job shop scheduling problem with a parallel assembly stage and lot streaming, deci...
